Kennel “iz Zoosfery”
In 1996 Russia entered the FCI that meant reviving of Russian breeders’ institution. More or less qualified dog-fanciers got an opportunity to register their own kennels and act independently, without clubs’ intermediacy. The club “Zoosfera” has self-dissolved.
In 1996 I registered my FCI kennel “Iz Zoosfery” named in commemoration of our favorite club. Some members of our club organized their own kennels as well. We continued to make breeding combinations together for a while, but later some of my most experienced assistants and students started their own successful breeding programs and some stayed with me and joined “Iz Zoosfery” kennel. The work became more interesting as it involved smaller breeding stock and I got an opportunity for individual approach to every breeding combination.
The aim of developing strong-boned Dobermans was not actual anymore as it has been solved during the period of our club’s activities. The selection came to solve more delicate problems. The heads were to become not only strong with developed jaws but they also had to look noble – to be of good length and proportions (length of a muzzle equal to length of a scull), to have parallel lines, well defined stop and flat cheeks. It was always desirable to acquire dogs with correct croups and good movement. Having the stock with different blood lines I had a firm intention to get stylishness: clean and finely-cut silhouette, whole-made shape, high withers with straight sloping upper line and total elegance.

I had nothing to change in the sense of behavior, character and balanced mind of the dogs as I always considered these points to be of great importance. Fearful, aggressive towards people, incontrollable dogs as well as the dogs with excess fighting spirit have never been used for breeding. Normally I rely on my own impression of the dogs’ characters and abilities and not on the behavior tests or training certificates. Of course this approach can not be recommended for every breeder, as not all the breeders have a serious experience in dog training and knowledge of dog psychology.
I consider strict choice and homogenous picking out of the dogs for breeding to be the basis of my selecting work. In order to gain the sameness of our dogs’ type I do without using close inbreeding but widely use moderate inbreeding (III-III, II-IV).
In 1990s I continued to purchase puppies for my kennel abroad and to use the most valuable European sires for breeding. I consider not only titled dogs to be valuable. I choose those who meet the tasks that I am solving at a time.

The leading sire for several years was Graaf Quinton v. Neerlands Stam whom I bought in 1994 in Holland. He was big, effective male possessing temperament, great working ability and show spirit. We’ve got series of of top-class quality progeny from him. My favorite one, Smart Wood Hills Izadora, answered the expectations and gave three litters to the kennel. She became the dam off such noticeable Dobermans as Gemma , Geliana, Galya iz Zoosfery, Nikita, Numenor and Noris iz Zoosfery as well as well known sire Oro de Uligan iz Zoosfery.
Possessing nobility of features Greis iz Zoosfery (dam – Nickol Selected) and Gretchen iz Zoosfery (dam – Konstans iz Zoosfery) reminded her father Quinton to a great extent.
I was proud to show two very stylish bithches – Raviol iz Zoosfery and Jaroslavna iz Zoosfery in the show rings of different counties for several years. They won in most cases and became the winners of Europe, IDC and other important shows.

In 1996 D. v.d. Zwan delivered us a black puppy-bitch Mo de Stang-Zu from France. This feminine, strong and well-colored grand daughter of the World Champion Gravin Vanda v Neerlands Stamm (Graaf Quinton’s mother) was also Gamon di Campovalano’s daughter and had the blood of v. Frankenhorst kennel. All the above fitted in my breeding program well. Each of her puppies were of great value for us and we used the best of them for our own breeding program.
Her first litter by Sant Kreal Nivago (inbreeding for Gravin Vanda) more than justified our hopes.

Such outstanding Dobermans as Nestor, Nino and Noir Magi were born in this litter. They well reflect the Doberman type that I like: strong, elegant and harmoniously built, with strong heads, bright color and superb characters. All of them easily got Champion titles and became winners in different countries. Nestor became the most titled Russian Doberman and the leading stud dog. He produced extra-class dogs in most of the litters. Above all I would mention Zvan iz Zoosfery and Flaviy iz Zoosfery who died early under dramatic circumstances.

In the second litter of Mo (by Bombastiс v.Hanseaten) BMW-Bavaria iz Zoosfery was born.This feminine, stylish, with excellent working abilities bitch won a great show success being not only the Best of Breed but also the Best-in-Show. Of course, she gained her International Champion title. She has already produced three litters. Among her puppies are the permanent judges’ admiration Electra and her very promising litter-brother Erny iz Zoosfery (by Obishuts di Campovolano). Her young progeny – Young Champion of Europe Djotto, Young vice-Champions Draiv and Damajanti iz Zoosfery have steady and big success. Being very young their litter-sisters Do-Do and Danuta iz Zoosfery won the Champion titles in Russia. Their litter-sister Dzhokonda lives in Ukraine and also pleasures us with her victories.

The litter of Mo and Oro di Uligan consisted of only one but elegant and noble puppy – Uvertura iz Zoosfery. Mo was also mated with Pimm’s Namber One iz Doma Domeni twice. Gorgeous dogs have been born as a result. They immediately conquered the rings not only in Russian but also abroad. They are: Sharon, Euro Disel and Euro Dinamica iz Zoosfery.
My old dream was purchasing of a descendent of great Mia v. Norden Sramm. In 1999 we managed to buy her grandson Bombastiс v.Hanseaten. It was initially obvious for us that he would have brilliant future. In spite of his slightly long body he looked very compact and whole-made. His perfect character, very strong bones,

ideal upper line, well defined forechest and ideal movement made him a notable dog in short time. He became an International Champion, Champion of several countries, IDC Winner. Breeders, including myself used him as a sire and got excellent progeny. His daughter Bawaria became a pride of “Iz Zoosfery” kennel. Being mated with Greis iz Zoosfery he produced some wonderful puppies including Jugin Grand, Jurana and International Champion Julechka iz Zoosfery, whose photo image decorates post stamps and cards in Finland. Big and effective Champoion Emelian and his harmoniously-built, feminine sister Esta iz Zoosfery remind us of dramatically and early died Bombastic.
A year after purchasing Bombastic I traveled to Germany again in order to buy Shalima v.Hanseaten, Bobmastic’s sister out of the same dam. Unfortunately she was rarely exhibited at dog shows but would stay in true Doberman-lovers’ memory. We mated her twice: with Nestor iz Zoosfery and Erny iz Zoosfery. Puppies of the second litter are very young but look very promising. Shalima’s daughter from the first litter – Yavlenie iz Zoosfery became a Young Champion of Europe and a Champion of Russia.

Argenta Uma Black Mamba and Assol iz Zoosfery are noticeable at dog shows now.
Young male Livonijas Baron Hero Hieronimus becomes the leading producer of the kennel. He was born in a well-known Latvian kennel. A prominent bitch Paola Penelopa Piligrimas also belongs to this kennel. Elena Pipira, the owner of Penelopa, mated her with the best Italian sire Nitro del Riobianko on my request and gave me the preoption of a puppy. There were 7 males in the litter and all of them were widely used for breeding. Ieronimus exceeded all my expectations. He has grown to be very masculine, middle sized, square, very strong, whole-made and harmonious male.

He possesses the features that I consider to be the most precious for the breed. He is used for breeding regularly and pleasures us with his progeny.
Steady success of our breeding that lasts within forty years is determined by considerable experience that keeps us out of rush decisions and helps us to estimate breeding and working potential of the stud dogs and dams. My professional skills of an art critic to some extent help me to note even the smallest deviations from harmonious built of the dogs. And all the above is based on everyday work and ability to overcome difficulties arising during the process of dog breeding. Not all the dogs of the kennel belong personally to me; a lot of them belong to my friends and companions who help me to realize my purposes. I am grateful to them all.
